Rose's Cairo Book Club // December 9 // The Remains of the Day

Rose's Cairo Book Club will meet at the AUC Tahrir Campus on December 9 to discuss The Remains of the Day, the 1989 novel by Nobel Prize-winning British writer Kazuo Ishiguro, for which he was awarded the Man Booker Prize for Fiction.

In the summer of 1956, Stevens, a long-serving butler at Darlington Hall, decides to take a motoring trip through the West Country. The six-day excursion becomes a journey into the past of Stevens and England, a past that takes in fascism, two world wars, and an unrealised love between the butler and his housekeeper.

The group will meet at 2:00pm in Room 339, on the third floor of the Sheikh Rihan Building, on the AUC Tahrir Campus.

Rose's Cairo Book Club is hosted by AUC Bookstores. It was founded by its facilitator Riham Adly, a published author and writing instructor. The group is open to the public. There is no fee to join. The discussions are held in English.

You can follow Rose's Cairo Book Club on Facebook and Twitter.
